The New York Mets’ struggles on Sundays continued with a 13-4 loss to the Colorado Rockies.

Sundays are not for the Mets.

Then again, neither are the other six days. This is a team seven games below .500 and light-years away from the playoff conversation, after all.

For whatever reason, though, Terry Collins’ team has tons of trouble kicking off the week in particular. Even he knows it.

“We have not played great on Sundays,” Collins said before a 13-4 loss to the Colorado Rockies on, yup, you guessed it, Sunday. “I can’t defend it. We just haven’t played good on day games and Sundays.”

In 15 Sunday games, the Mets are 5-10 … not horrendous, but they’ve also been outscored 108-57, making it a lot worse. They’ve given up an average of 61 runs during the rest of the week and have scored 63 runs during that timespan through July 17.
