In appreciation of Mike Trout’s consistent greatness, Mike Trout Monday is For The Win’s weekly roundup of stuff Mike Trout did.
That got bleak for a minute there. For the first time since the middle of the 2011 season, Major League Baseball endured more than a month of regular-season games without Mike Trout playing in any of them. But Trout returned from thumb surgery when the Angels opened up their second half on Friday night and ripped the following line-drive single in his second at-bat back:

Trout also stole his eleventh base of the season on Friday night, sliding headfirst into second with his new protective base-running mitt leading the way.
Across the short week, Trout went 4-for-12 — all singles — with a walk and a steal. The effort was good for a .718 OPS, Trout’s worst calendar week of the season to date but lousy only in comparison. Three games, naturally, don’t mean a heck of a lot, but it just can’t be a bad sign for Trout to rejoin the Angels’ lineup and get hits in a third of his at-bats over his first few games.
