Over the weekend, the Ogden Raptors accomplished something most professional teams that currently or previously called Utah home have failed to do. Yep, win it all. Though on a different stage and in a different sport, the Ogden organization’s Pioneer League championship is one more title than the St. George Roadrunners, the Saints (Salt Lake City and Utah versions), the majority of the double-z teams — sorry, Starzz, Buzz, Catzz, Freezz and, oh yeah, Jazz — and the majority of other teams that’ve come and gone have combined to win in the history of their respective franchises. Dolphins coach leaves open possibility of Timmons rejoining team

DAVIE, Fla. — Miami Dolphins coach Adam Gase says he’ll decide later whether to let linebacker Lawrence Timmons rejoin the team. Timmons was suspended indefinitely after he went AWOL Saturday, the day before the Dolphins’ season-opening win at the Los Angeles Chargers. When asked about violations of team culture, Gase left open the possibility of Timmons returning. “Every situation’s different, and I would say that you can be forgiven if the right steps are taken,” Gase said. CFL issues maximum fine against Lions LB Micah Awe for hits

TORONTO — B.C. Lions linebacker Micah Awe was fined the maximum amount by the CFL on Wednesday for his hits on Calgary Stampeders running backs Jerome Messam and Roy Finch. Messam, the CFL rushing leader, left Calgary’s 27-13 win after being hit by Awe. Messam was falling to the ground in the third quarter when Awe led with the crown of his helmet to deliver a blow to the back of Messam’s head. There was no flag on the play. Rapids coaching search: Colorado makes contact with at least four candidates

The Colorado Rapids have contacted at least four coaches to replace Pablo Mastroeni. A league source told The Denver Post that the Rapids have made contact with former Venezuela national team coach César Farías, former Norwegian national team player and Blackburn Rovers manager Henning Berg, Stanford University coach Jeremy Gunn and Columbus Crew SC assistant coach Josh Wolff.
