The Golden State Warriors are the Bay Area’s team — long based in Oakland, moving to San Francisco and attracting fans from throughout the region. But as sponsorship deals leading to the new Mission Bay arena show, the Warriors no longer belong to the Bay Area.

Rakuten Inc., the Tokyo-based e-commerce giant, was revealed Tuesday as the sponsor of a uniform patch— or “badge” as Warriors executives call it — that included several other partnership plays wrapped into a $20 million-a-year deal.
